Room preparation requirements can vary depending on your property, therefore we strongly recommend contacting our consultant for advice specific to your property, however generally speaking here are the main critical room preparation requirements:
- Thermal insulation:Cellar must be insulated with a minimum thermal insulation of U-Value: 0.34 W/m2 K, such as with Celotex 65mm foil backed or equivalent.
- Vapour barrier:There must also be a vapour barrier, such as plastic sheeting to form a complete vapour & insulated envelope, in which the indoor unit would be installed.
- Insulated cellar doors:We recommend glass panels and/or doors be double glazed units if possible, to maximize energy efficiency & allow greater temperature control. The doors must be fitted with gaskets to create a complete air seal. NOTE: Frameless single glazed glass may be used under some circumstances, however please be aware of potential issues with condensation should the internal temperature be set too low and/or the outside temperature be too high.
- Thermal breaks:Thermal breaks should be installed between underfloor heating & temperature controlled environment. Other underfloor heating zones we suggest should be 400mm away. Any foreign heat source (e.g. hot water pipes, hot ducts) must be fully insulated/isolated from the climate controlled zone.
- DrainageAny drainage and/or sinks fitted with the cellar by others must be fitted with waterless traps e.g. HepvO®.
